Has anyone else noticed the the new "update" to version 1.6 redirects the News Feed to the mobile browser? This seems like a step back to me. The whole idea of an app is to allow features that aren't available on a browser or web page. I hope this is a temporary fix to allow liking comments while Facebook is working on Version 2.0.

I just noticed this morning that my News Feed updated the UI within the app itself to be far more complex - Pictures load larger, comments/likes are easier to read, scrolling automatically loads older posts, etc, and I'm not directed to the mobile browser at all.

I think this is a big step forward compared to how awful it used to be. What I came from on BlackBerry was better/more reliable.

Kind of like the visual when you change your feed from "top news" to other options. Pretty slick!

Nope. Mine doesn't do that. The news feed opens in the app just like it always has.

I'll admit that the NewsFeed is growing on me, but it still doesn't seem native to the app. For example, you can't long press on an update for more options anymore. The functionality (except for the cool selector wheel) is just like the mobile web version. They are probably pulling in the mobile version to that window only, which seems like cheating to me. As long as it works though....

If and when they make this app function like or better than Facebook touch, then I'd consider using it. Facebook touch (pre-installed) app is a Mobil view with all the features like the PC version.

I am having the same problem with the mobile web launching for the news feed. Over on the facebook app page there are reports of this happening with Captivates, which is what I have.

Hope the powers that be fix this soon.

Found that remove and re-install fixes the issue. At least for now.

It's NOT the Mobile Web version of the News Feed (though it looks close), and if I'm not mistaken, doesn't the iPhone version look very similar? I like the new News Feed better. You can finally like comments. It does need work, though, it doesn't always pull the latest update on to the top. I'm hoping they fix that very soon.

Looks like the re-install only works the first time you launch. You get to login to FB and the new feed works as before. Once you exit and try to go back in the same bad behavior occurs.

Is anyone else seeing the old view when they open the app from the widget, but the new view if they open it from a shortcut or the app list?

And if (from the "old" view) you go to the main page and then tap "News Feed" it takes you to the new view!

I've restarted my phone, deleted and replaced the widget, tried force-closing Facebook and replacing the widget, and even unintalled and reinstalled Facebook, and I keep getting the same result.

The inconsistency is driving me nuts!

Soo.... Facebook just magically updated itself without the Market? Because I'm sure that's what happened to mine.

I fixed my push notifications in the previous version by logging out of the app, then logging in again.

I only get the new news feed if I select it from the App's home screen. If I select it from the widget, I still get the old News Feed.

Newbie here going slightly off topic...does anyone know how to tag someone in a photo uploaded through the fbook app? If I go in through the browser I can tag, but just uploading a photo through the app I cannot find the option to tag someone, only add a caption to the photo. I am using a Tbolt (my very first smartphone that I have had only 3 days...still learning)

    Thanks!

^ Tagging is a sorely lacking feature from the app.

They keep releasing updates to the app, but the two things people really want (tagging and push notifications) seem to keep coming up missing.

That being said, the app has improved dramatically....but is still missing some functionality. Hoping for a 2.0 release that includes this stuff.
