Android Auto Google Maps Overlay

I have android auto in my 2019 volkswagen jetta, if that matters. It used to be that when using google maps in android auto, when I would click on my music player a little overlay would appear for google maps at the bottom of the screen with simplified directions. But now after an update that has gone away, but is still available on my fathers phone in his truck. Does anyone know what this overlay is called and if it is a setting? An example of what I am talking about is included in this thread.

If you long press maps then tap info scroll to appear on top and toggle off

Don't know what it's called but that is the new interface so you probably have an old version, if not try clearing AA's cache, maybe data

Thanks for all your help, I cleared the cache of google maps and the directions are back and all is right in the world. Hope y'all have a happy new year.
