The big question is whether they fixed the battery drain bug. Far more users are affected by the bug than Android Auto.

Battery drain bug was fixed with the Samsung push app update. I tested today and got 8hrs standby with 74% battery remaining.

Has anyone tested with the new Google Play Services 7.3 installed? I know it's a shot in the dark but they did change how they handle Android Wear notifications. Maybe there is some overlap.
Had a feeling about this. It was Google Play Services.

    Can't post links but see here w w w(dot) androidcentral.com/latest-google-play-services-update-enables-android-auto-galaxy-s6

Rollout happens automatically but if you're adventurous the APK is out there.

So I can't seem to get the update, and my Google Play Services doesn't seem to be updating either. It currently says I'm running 5.3.6 for google play. Maybe AT+T hasn't released the update yet? Any ideas on this?

I noticed an update of the Android Auto app this morning and decided to try again on the 4100NEX. Lo and behold, it worked! Well at least partially

The interface comes up and seems fully functional, but there seems to be no sound coming through the USB interface. There is sound for phone calls (which I think is bluetooth), but Music, navigation and all other sounds do not seem to work.

Also, the phone is no longer locked when in AA mode, i.e. I am able to navigate, open apps etc. while connected to the car (just like on Apple).

I have not yet updated the firmware update to 1.03, so will try that next and see it it helps.
Is that updated on the Google Play store?

    Yes.

Also to confirm updating to the 1.03 firmware fixes the sound issue.

According to my Android profile on Google it's installed on my S6, but I can't find it anywhere on my phone. How do I update?

Update. I've managed to download the APK from apkmirror dot com, but every time I try to install it simply says app not installed...

make sure you are installing 448 version of the apk other versions will not work properly

I highly recommend not sideloading Google Play Services from mirrors. It's one of the most important things on your phone now.

Had same issue, turn out to be as silly as the volume all the way down.
Press main volume on unit, then look for "alerts" on right, raise volume there.

Hope this was it for you.

Thank you so much for the response!

You are referring to the s6 and not the head unit, right? After changing all sounds up it still wouldn't produce sound. I will try a different USB tomorrow to see if that is the reason, but I highly doubt it because the same cable works on the note 4. I hope I don't have to go a factory wipe. ..

Ended up getting it. All I had to do was install the latest update to the radio (4100NEX, update 1.03).

I am using the S6 on Verizon and Android auto is working great on my 4100 NEX. Wish Waze was working but maps is good.

Could not get my S4 to work so I upgraded to the S6. Love it. Have to use power saving mode to get good battery life.

Couldn't get s4 to work so I took home a verizon s6 today. Still not working I'm so irritated. Connects to Bluetooth fine, charges the phone, is connected to the correct usb port 2. Settings are others USB 2........ what am I doing wrong here?

Fixed it. The pioneer usb cable is not recognized by the s6. Switched it out for the Samsung cable and android auto works fine now. Wish it was that easy for the s4.....

I have a 2015 Sonata with Android Auto installed and a Galaxy S6 with Google Play Services 7.5.71 and the combination is not working. My phone will connect via bluetooth, as usual, but when plugging in the phone via usb absolute nothing happens other than the phone starts to charge. The cars screen has an Android Auto icon but it is greyed out, Android Auto is enable in the settings. Any idea why mine will not work but yours does?

Try opening AA when disconnected and make sure "Only connect to known cars" is not checked, and also press "Forget all cars".

Thanks Dr Claw. I did try this with the same luck, it's like the car doesn't recognize the phone is connected via USB. Out of desperation I tried another USB cable, this time one that I knew was a High Speed Data Sync cable, and it worked! I hadn't seen anywhere that this was a requirement, if I had known I would have tried this sooner. Live and Learn. Thanks for assisting.
