I just returned from the Hyundai dealership after bringing in my 2015 Sonata Hybrid Limited for the Android Auto install.
They told me that it was not available on my car, because it is not a *new* 2015 Sonata. I purchased it in February. According the the dealership, the body style and the nav system changed significantly during this production year (it looks like the same awful nav software to me). I saw no such distinction in their multiple press releases for Android Auto on the '15 Sonata.

My question is, once AA is available for download, do you think I can install it myself?

I purchased my 2015 Sonata Limited (not Hybrid) this past Friday. The update was installed as part of a "recall" before I left the dealership. You shouldn't have to wait to install. I'd try another dealership, if you have the option.

The hybrid Sonata is actually a carryover 2014 car. The tech in it is from last year. The 2016 hybrid will be the same as the 2015 non-hybrid.

In other words the 2015 hybrid Sonata will NOT get Android Auto from the factory.

Has anyone successfully updated their 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to Android Auto? Is so please let me know as I would really like this. Does it lose any functionality like rear view camera, or anything else?

I'm sorry to tell you this but your 2015 sonata hybrid will not and cannot get Android auto. The 2015 hybrid is the previous generation Sonata. For hybrids they didnt get redesigned until the 2016 model year. Your 2015 hybrid is based on the same tech as the 2009 to 2014 regular sonatas. The 2015 android auto capable models is ONLY the new generation. Which is SE, Eco, Sport, Limited and Limited 2.0T. Not the hybrid version. You'll noticed your 2015 hybrid visually speaking looks nothing like the other 2015s. But looks like 2014s and before.

I researched this all a few months back. I purchased a 2016 Sonata Sport
