If you're asking yourself "Does my phone or car support Android Auto?" — this is where we're going to answer the question in easy list form. We'll have to update this this periodically, so if we're missing something sing out! (And seeing as how we're U.S.-based, any international suggestions are definitely welcome!)

    What phones support Android Auto?

Anything running Android 5.x Lollipop that also uses Google services. And you'll need the Android Auto app, of course.

My AT&T Note 4 running Lollipop 5.01 doesn't work with my Pioneer AVH-8100NEX with FW version 1.03.
I have called Pioneer and they are suggesting it's my issue to work out.
anyone have something close to this setup working?

At the moment Skoda has 3 radio units that support Android Auto (and Apple Carplay). These are the radio units:
    • Bolero
    • Amundsen
    • Columbus

The Skoda Fabia and Octavia are already delivered with Android Auto (got one my own).

First impressions: Android Auto isn't available in the Play Store which is annoying. Voice control doesn't work properly(probably because not finished yet for my country). Maps works great, replying to text isn't working, calling works perfect, play music doesn't show my library or SD-card.

Having trouble with a new Moto G (3rd gen). While the old Nexus 5 worked without issue, connecting the Moto G brings up a screen from Android Auto that it is not compatible, even though the phone is running Android 5.1.1. Had a brief chat with Motorola who, of course, suggested I contact Android Auto support.

Is there anyway to contact Android Auto support? All I see are FAQs and known issues which don't relate to this. There is this vague mention about some phones not working even though they run 5.1.1, but not sure why.

What country are you in and with which car did you try? I'm based in Austria, got a brand new Skoda Superb and a LG G3. Sideloaded the app, VPN and FakeGPS to Germany, still AA is not booting up. And on a side note: Apple CarPlay works perfectly in my car...

I had some e-mail correspondence with Volkswagen in Sweden and received this information.

App-Connect comes as standard on the 2016 line of Golf, cars produced in May 25th 2015 or later comes prepared for Android-Auto no matter which head-unit you chose. You'll just need to update the Android Auto app when the Swedish version comes out in Q1 2016.

Do anyone know if I can download the .apk for the American version of AA and run it in my car until we get the Swedish version?
(I have got the .apk installed and running, just waiting for my alltrack to enter production-line)

Are there any vehicles that have two USB media ports - I would like to run Android Auto through my phone on one port, and play music through the car's system via attached USB stick to a second port. Thanks.

I dont know how the equipment bundles are in your country but when I configured my Golf I could tick a box for "Handsfree comfort" with the description that reads "Multimedia connection AUX-IN and 2 USB-interfaces..".

That supposedly should let you play music from a USB-stick while using Google Maps on Android Auto, I'm not sure tho

    >> To simplify things on our part, we recommend visiting this Android Auto sub-page for a list by manufacturer

No offense, but that list is useless (at least now). It's just a page of links to manufacturer's web pages.

What would be nice is a wiki (or web page) with a list.

    For example
    Year Make Model Trim/comment
    2016 Hyndai Senata with Nav

Such a list would be real handy when trying to buy or rent a car. Why do the manufacturers try and make choosing them so difficult!

I tested it and it works very well on the 2016 Kia Optima and 2016 Honda Accord, although on the Accord it wasn't able to use the full screen.
I've talked to a number of dealers who say that they have it when they don't and don't have it when they do.

Are there any aftermarket devices that support BOTH Android Auto, AND the Apple equivalent?

My understanding is that Android Auto is not contained in the car device per se, but strictly in the phone. It's just, the device has to be able to interact on its end with the Android Auto app on the phone's end. I am led to believe that this is also the case with Apple.

So, If I'm right, then it seems like it'd be easy to make a device that supports both platforms, and unless there are costly royalties to pay to make your device compatable, it seems like it'd be quite advantageous to the car manufacturer to release cross-compatible devices, rather than lining up on one side or the other like they are.

The fact that they're not doing this gives me pause and makes me wonder if I'm not mistaken on how all this stuff works. If I am wrong, please correct me. :-)

Anyway, our primary car is a 2013 Kia Soul, with an aged, junker secondary in a 1994 Chevy Corsica. Obviously, the Corsica doesn't support these, but neither does the Kia. Right now the Mrs and I both have iPhones (6+ each) so Android Auto isn't an immediate option for us anyway. But I do still plan to go multiplatform............eventually, and pick up a Nexus someday, as well as jumping onto Windows Phone at some point (which, I hear is also getting into Auto, which with UWP makes perfect sense).

To that end, if we were going to replace the Kia's factory audio or replace an aging aftermarket in the Corsica with something "smart", I'd like to be future-proofed with something that doesn't only support Apple, but also Android Auto (and heck, even Windows, ideally!)

So, does anyone know if such a beast exists?

    Cheers!

I think most of the latest aftermarket units (Pioneer, Kenwood) support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto rather than just one - you just need to make sure support for it is listed in the specs. Consumers don't want to be locked into one or the other since it would vary depending on who's driving the vehicle. Most auto manufacturers are including support for both in their newer models.
