Just bought a new Colorado ('16)and having trouble having the Colorado recognize Android Auto on my Samsung S5 running lollipop. I plugged my wife's iPhone in and it worked fine. I used a number of USB cables (including the factory USB that came with my phone) and no luck. I can get the mylink to read music from the phone, so I know it's making the connection. Any advice?

I don't think you can play music through USB with some android phones. I tried to use the USB in my car with the S6, and it didn't work (it only charged). I can only play music through my aux cord.

Check to make sure they updated the software for the MyLink system. In your MyLink settings, if you only see an option for CarPlay and not CarPlay and Android Auto, they haven't installed the update yet. I got mine last month and specifically asked them to do the upgrade.

The Android Auto was added in the last software update. The truck comes with Apple Carplay already (no update needed for that). That's why your wife's phone worked.

Acidglaze - can you confirm that with the new update Android Auto is an option underneath settings? My dealer says that I have the "latest update" but I do not see Android Auto as an option under settings.

Yes, it should display right under Apple Carplay. I don;t remember what section it is under in settings, but it should be easy to find. If you only see Apple Carplay and not Android Auto, you do not have the update.

And I see you're on a samsung. Make sure your USB connection in the phone is set to MTP, and not usb for charging only. I think this is only an issue with marshmallow, but I know it's samsung specific.

Thanks for info. No, I definitely do not have Android Auto listed underneath settings (but Apple CarPlay is there). Yes, I have AA app for phone and yes it is set on MTP. I have an appointment Tuesday with dealer, I'll update next week.

Chevy only released the AA update in March so your dealer will need to update your truck. I have a the GMC canyon and had mine done in March, it has for the most part worked flawlessly with only a couple of intermittent problem that haven't reoccurred.
Also, mine may have been a bad experience but it took them a couple of hours to do the job so allow plenty of time.

Turns out that indeed my truck needed to have the March update. The problem was that Chevy listed my version of the software as "up-to-date" even though it didn't include the Android Auto option. The dealer ran the update and we're all good to go. Thanks for the help, y'all!

I have a Chevy Silverado16 and i just had the upgrade done this week.
The dealer tried to bull**** me that they didn't received the Android update yet, I had to show them the email that I received from Chevy that they have it.. He called his specialist to come in front and the specialist told them that yes he can do it no problems.
After the upgrade was done on the radio, He told me to download the Android auto on my Samsung4 and I just had to connect my phone with the usb cable and its now working...
I managed to have google maps working, making calls and text by using my voice, and now I would like to have my apps like WAZE working...
Good luck...

Waze is coming. Just not here yet.
