Looking for the best Android Auto head unit that would fit in a 2014 Mazda 6 with Bose system. I know there's some third-party device needed to enable steering wheel controls. Is it possible to splice the Bose microphone into the AA unit, so I can keep using that?

Been keeping my eye on the Sony XAV unit they just put out, but some folks have said Pioneer is the way to go.

I just want the best cost-to-quality ratio that'll fit and look great in my car. Bonus points if I can hook up the USB port on the back of the unit (during installation) so it runs to the USB port in my center console. The Mazda 'infotainment' center already had that USB function, so if I can keep the cable there, that'd be stellar.

    Thanks!

I put a Pioneer 8100nex in my wife's Explorer, it's a great unit! any of the X100nex units would be a good choice if you don't want to spend the extra money on the newest X200nex units. check this link below to see if your vehicle is supported, if it is, you will be able to retain your steering wheel controls, Bluetooth mic, and USB ports all in one unit

iDatalink - Maestro - Maestro RR
Looks like iMaestro will play nice with the X200 series, so I assume it'll also play with the X100 series, too? What is the difference? Updated tech? Better screens?

Looking to get two of whatever I buy - one for me, one for the girlfriend.

EDIT: Did you really pay $900+ for the Pioneer one? That's part of why I was looking at the Sony one - $500.

We put the Pioneer 4200 nex in the wife's 2011 toyota avalon and everything works fine with this head unit. Steering wheel controls, backup camera, etc. One thing to watch for is that the screen size and resolution will support Android Auto. Not all units will. Also, some of the head units come with navagation built in, but we chose one that didn't have this feature because we would be using google maps with AA. Good luck with your choice!

the X100 series will work fine with Maestro/idatalink, the 8100, 7100 and 8200 and 7200 series have built in navigation and better screens, therefore they're more expensive, you can get the 4100 or 4200 for much much cheaper
