Android auto Waze not going to night mode

I posted this in the S10 forum but no responses so let's try in here. Anyone else hook up their s10 for android auto and use Waze? I even set the manual setting in the Waze app to night mode and STILL bright as the sun white background. Any help would be appreciated. Old Samsung j3 did not ha e the issue nor my old cheap Indian no name phone.p

Reboot what? I have the same problem with my S10+ except I'm stuck on night mode.

I have samsung S9 and have the same problem, no night mode in waze neither google maps. I hope they fix this soon.

My S8+ has the same problem with Waze not going to night mode with Android Auto ever since I started using the new layout for Android Auto. The app on the phone does display night mode as expected though. My phone reboots every weekend and the problem has not gone away after several reboots.

I found a solution so I figured I'd share it here.

Open Android Auto and go to Settings
Scroll down to the Version and permission info
Click on it repeatedly until it enables Development mode
Use the hamburger menu in Settings to go to Developer Settings
In Day/Night mode, select either Phone controlled or Night (depending on your preference)

Now when you connect your phone to the car via USB it will use night mode in Waze or Maps as selected.
