Tell us when you first started showing interest in the TB.
Realizing that my blackberry would no longer entertain me, I realized I had to make a choice between sticking with a boring OS, or moving on to something new and exciting. Enter android. This thought came around the holidays, and after trying out my gf's Incredible, I knew I would fine a nice home in android. Seeing as how CES was around the corner, I started reading on rumors about phones that might make an appearance. out of moto, lg, and samsung, I had a preference to HTC for their reputation of putting out great phones with OS updates. So enter the ThunderBolt. At first I was on the fence between a bionic and a ThunderBolt, mainly because of the dual-core addition. However I realized that the only thing stopping me was dual-core, and that as long as I could make calls, check my email, and msg people, I would be set. So I decided on the ThunderBolt, just on HTC's rep alone. And seeing that it would come out around the same time as my upgrade (my upgrade came March 14th, but I was under the impression that the phone would arrive much sooner, but still a month before my upgrade), I knew that it was fate to have this phone. (yes i know I sound like a total dork).
What interested you the most (features/aesthetics,etc.)?
I'm venturing out of a physical keyboard for the first time in nearly 5 years. so going from physical to virtual will be the most im looking forward too. Also 4G, but most importantly, finally getting my hands on my very first Android device.
How crazy you've gone through all these delays?
I was actually taking the delays quite well. It wasn't until last week were I stopped visiting the forums as often as I did, not only because of school, but the speculation was getting to me. I took a bit of a break, read, but didn't post, and low and behold, a release date!
What your purchasing plan is: online, brick and morter, waiting outside Verizon's store all night?
online. I prefer online for some reason. I waited this long, what's another 2 or three days?
And anything else that you think we'd find humorous or interesting.

I can't be humorous on command, so I will refrain from answering this question.

I first hear about the T-Bolt when it was the Incredibe HD, then the mecha, then it was quiet and then BOOM, Thunderbolt; and from my first sighting I was in love! I mean, I risked my employment by being one of the leaks yesterday about its launch this week! YEAH!

I'm a screen Guy. Screen quality is huge, some guys like butts, some like boobs, I like a big, juicy, sensitive, high quality touch screen! I have the Fascinate right now and I went with it over the X because of the screen. Anyone on here listen to the Lonely Island? Well here's my verse: "looking on the net for the latest craze, gotta get a phone that'll but me in a daze, I browse android central and caught a glimpse of you (being the thunderbolt) and I JIZZED IN MY PANTS!"

So yeah I guess I'm pretty hardcore. And guess what, I'm Gunna sit glued to the VZW web site waiting for it to drop so I can order it ASAFP! On top of that, my manager is on her way from our corporate office (indirect retailer chain) with 2 t-bolts and guess who's Gunna play with one all day at work the day before launch, that's right, ME!

I figure hey, I suffered through pushed launch after pushed launch, I deserve to treat myself BEFORE LAUNCH.

Thank you android central, I hope you see I'm nuts enough to NEED this case!

So Happy the HTC Thunderbolt is finally coming out. I've been following this from CES 11 through to today. I have an HTC Incredible that I will be upgrading from to the Thunderbolt on Thursday. I weighed the pro's and con' of the Bionic, Revolution and Thunderbolt, and decided the Thunderbolt was the one for me. :- )

    1. Tell us when you first started showing interest in the TB.
Actually, my daughter first told me about the Thunderbolt. I was shopping around for my first smart phone. She told me she wanted the Thunderbolt when it came out. I started doing a lot of research on phones in general. I initially thought it would be months and months before the Thunderbolt came out, or that it was too much phone for me. Although there was this little itch I was having that really, really wanted a Thunderbolt.
I actually bought a Droid Incredible first. I like it partly because it was free. But after getting it, I didn't really like several aspects of it. I decided to take it back. I then got an iPhone 4 from Verizon on the day they came out. I didn't like it because of all of the restrictions Apple puts on their phone. It was not customizable. Very frustrating! I don't like being like everyone else! So, I took that one back. (Yes, I know I'm bad. :-) ) So back to Best Buy I went and bought the Samsung Fascinate. I really like the Fascinate except for a few things. I did not like that they decided to "Bing" it. It does not have the Froyo 2.2, so no flash, and you can't save apps to the sd card. I had planned to root the Fascinate until I heard the Thunderbolt was actually going to make it out Thursday! So, I will be at Best Buy on Thursday to swap my Fascinate for a Thunderbolt. My 30 days on the Fascinate won't be up until Mar 22.

    2. What interested you the most (features/aesthetics,etc.)?
I like the fact that is has Google, Froyo 2.2, a front facing camera, the speed of the device, the fact it is new technology for Verizon, and so much more! It going to be a fantastic phone!!

    3. How crazy you've gone through all these delays?
Well, as you can see above, I went through several phones, while trying to wait for the Thunderbolt. I would convince myself each time the phone I bought would be just fine. It just never worked that way. I had bought the phone I have now, the Fascinate, at Best Buy, so I had 30 days to take it back. Well, I decided if the Thunderbolt did not come out by the time my 30 days were up, I would go head and keep my Fascinate. I extensively searched the internet on a daily basis for any new info on the Thunderbolt. I was even calling Best Buy and Verizon on almost a daily basis asking them for any new news on the Thunderbolt. Today I hit the jackpot!! Not only was it reported on Android Central, but both Best Buy and Verizon, (yes, I called them), said the Thunderbolt would be out Thursday!

    4. What your purchasing plan is: online, brick and morter, waiting outside Verizon's store all night?
I went to Best Buy today (Tuesday) to pre-order the Thunderbolt so I'll be guaranteed a phone on Thursday! What a good feeling it will be to walk into Best Buy on Thursday and not have to worry about if they have one for me. I want them to ring it up without ever taking it out of the box. I'll bring it home and do the rest!!!

    5. And anything else that you think we'd find humorous or interesting.
Well, I really do need this cover. I actually ordered and bought covers for all three phones I've have in the past month or so, the Incredible, iPhone 4 and the Samsung Fascinate. I even bought screen protectors. lol... I'm covers and protectors poor now! I can't help but wonder what Verizon and Best Buy think of me!! But that's ok, I'm getting a Thunderbolt!!! Finally!!!!!

My VZW store manager called me and made an appt. with me @ 9am Thurs. and said he'd make sure I got one even if supplies were limited. Made me realize I might be emotionally unprepared for this rollercoaster to finally stop. I'm worried I may cry on my new TB like a young WWE fan learning wrastlin is fake.

I'm a big fat HTC fan, and found myself having to switch to VZW from ATT - and this is what VZW is offering right now. I hope to see many, many unique ROMs and a huge dev community behind this - FUN stuff and I can't wait!

At first I thought I wanted the bionic but the more I heard about the thunderbolt the more I was drawn in... I got the og droid on launch day, and will have to order online since according to verizon today I'm not eligible to upgrade instore (contrary to what someone at the nearest store told me over the phone...). Probably for the best, since I have 3 exams between Thursday and Friday! If the tbolt causes me to fail out of school, I think that would take the cake story-wise, so let's pretend that's my story (but sincerely hope it isn't!). My droid I'd showing more and more signs of its age... No room left on internal storage, and it's getting to be pretty sluggish. I'm more than ready for the thunderbolt!

Coming here to ac only furthered my obsession with the device, and I've been checking here about 10x/day for the past week or two lol. I plan on sticking around though, since I look forward to actually tweaking this thing with everyone's help

I was considering waiting it out until summer to see what the i*hone5 will be like, but no I'm not doing that. For phones, I like android much better than iOS.

I've been waiting for a new phone since July 2010. When I heard Verizon was going to have an Android Phone on 4G LTE, so I've been on AC everyday for the last 4 months waiting for this day!

What interested you the most (features/aesthetics,etc.)?

The fact of being on 4G, and the Processor.

How crazy you've gone through all these delays?
I've been eligible for an upgrade since July, and been waiting to get the right phone. Needless to say, I've check AC 2-3 times a day waiting for a date since DECEMBER.

What your purchasing plan is: online, brick and morter, waiting outside Verizon's store all night? Maybe not all night, but I'll be there before they open!

Anything else that you think we'd find humorous or interesting.

I've had every Verizon Android Phone and non of them have the expectations that I have for the TB...I've been driving people crazy telling them about this phone. I finally get to show it off!!!(hopefully in a nice new Innocase)

Tell us when you first started showing interest in the TB.
-I first started showing interest in the TB when I saw the rumors of the Mecha last year, and I have been having a hard time deciding whether I wanted to get the TB or the Merge, but I've pretty much decided on the TB because I like the bigger screen.

What interested you the most (features/aesthetics,etc.)?
-I tried out the DInc, and while I could definitely work with a device that size, the screen is a tad small for my thumbs to type with both thumbs, so the larger screen of the TB is more my size. I've played with classmates' Evos, and definitely like the screen size better. I really love the looks of the phone and I like HTC Sense from what little I've messed with it. HTC's relative openness to hacking is also big for me.

How crazy you've gone through all these delays?
-These delays have been driving me nuts.

What your purchasing plan is: online, brick and mortar, waiting outside Verizon's store all night?
-I will probably buy online, we've been eligible for upgrades since August, and I've been dying to get off of my flip phone that I've had for almost 30 months. I have school all day on the 17th, but we'll probably order on the 18th or so I think.

And anything else that you think we'd find humorous or interesting.
-"Unfortunately", my mom dropped her enV 2 the other day, and is just making do for a tiny bit longer with a broken interior display until we all upgrade at the same time. My line is listed as the primary, and I'm eligible for a $100 credit on an upgrade if we buy online from something through mom's employer I guess, $150 is a much nicer price for the TB.

I'm an Android virgin. I've lurked around Android Central for quite awhile, trying to pick my next phone, knowing I was ready to make the leap from my crummy LG Dare to a real phone, and when I heard about the upcoming HTC phone, it seemed all others paled in comparison... As my Dare gasps its last breaths (seriously, zero battery life, restarting itself, the screen dies, the speaker dies...) I have been begging and praying for an early release, hoping I wouldn't have to give in to a lesser device, and checking AC every morning, noon, and night, hoping for good news. Best believe I will be at Verizon ASAP to pick this one up!

Tell us when you first started showing interest in the TB.
I've never been a big smart phone person - I loved the old flip Samsung I had with AT&T for years...then my boyfriend moved me into the world of smart phones through a series of hand me downs...first with a Treo, which was replaced with a Motorola Q (that died within about a week), and eventually, a Touch Pro Diamond all brand new. Except - even from the first day of using that phone, I couldn't stand it...slow, unresponsive...meh. When he tried to sell me on the idea of the TB, I balked - but picked up a Droid X to try Android out - and fell in LOVE with Android based phones. When he showed me more of the info on the TB, I was hooked, especially knowing that we're in a 4G area. Been stalking AC ever since.

What interested you the most (features/aesthetics,etc.)?
The 4G is a big draw, as I probably gave up on "using" my past smart phones because of how slow they were when it came to looking anything up. Android based was another big seller - I almost fell for the iPhone 4, but I'm glad I dodged that bullet.

How crazy you've gone through all these delays?
Well - the first week that it was supposed to be out (week of 2/14) I think I called my BB every day...poor people. After that, I resigned myself to stalking the forums, blogs, etc - anyone that might have info. Every little rumor, every tidbit was more fodder for my overactive imagination. It's been a wild ride, but I do have to say I hope this is the only time I go through this over a phone!

Is it bad to admit that I may have had several dreams about the Thunderbolt? And that I woke up from said dreams and checked for news, regardless of what time of night it was?

What your purchasing plan is: online, brick and morter, waiting outside Verizon's store all night?
Brick and mortar - Best Buy - I'll be going in to trade in my Droid X for the Thunderbolt, since I've only had it for about...10 days. Woot!

And anything else that you think we'd find humorous or interesting.
Not terribly so - but I find it funny! My SO is the super tech of the two of us. System engineer, working with computers since he could crawl, 20 years in the field, etc. etc. etc. But he hasn't cracked into the world of Android yet, and I'm enjoying being able to show him what I've learned to do with the platform so far and watch him go, "Hm, wonder if I could make something like that work on the iPhone..." It's even more fun, when he asks me how I made something work, I get to toss back at him his usual staple of, "Google is your friend." It's not often I get to be more knowledgeable about something tech with him around!

MY PRECIOUS NEEDS SOME LOVE TOO!!!!

First started with the TB back in August when BGR broke the story with the couple pics. From that day on I knew this was going to be my next phone. Got a D1 originally back when they first launched. Wanted the Eris due to loving the HTC look and Sense. I just knew the D1 was going to be the winner of the two.. Now HTC finally has something that I can feel comfortable with and not fear that it will be the crooked step child like the Eris was. The larger screen, FFC, and kickstand were my first likes with the phone, and now you throw in the updated specs and internals compared to the Evo. I am not a huge gamer on my phone as I just use my Xbox, so the single core is perfect and this will have what I need to keep for a while.

These delays have been driving me, my family, and friends nuts. I am the tech guy in our group and everyone comes to me for answers. I have successfully convinced my sister in law and friends to hold off on upgrading until now. One is on an old Ally that stopped working a month ago and another on an old BB. For the past few months I have heard nothing but..When is it coming.. should I get this or something else.. You know the same stuff we discuss here and other forums.. I feel for Phil, and BMX, and Miami over at DF.. They have taken the heat on this launch and man what a mess. Glad people like them are around to help us..

Purchasing I am set for 9AM tomorrow morning at corp store. They are letting me sign a one year using my two year annual upgrade. Only want the one year just in case.. $70 difference for 10 months sooner of an upgrade.. I feel that the TB will last me for a while, but we all know you can never be that sure..

Want something funny. Did anyone watch the roast of Donald Trump last night. . as if The Situation wasnt bad enough for the public eye.. what an embarrassment last night.. If you didnt catch it I am sure it will be online today.. Guarantee watch that and you have your fill for funny today.

To close this long post out.. I REALLY HOPE YOU ALL HERE AT AC COULD SEE FIT TO BLESS ME WITH A NICE NEW CASE FOR MY TB!!

Oh and my wife would thank you as she already wants to kill me for what I am about to spend tomorrow to get the phone, much less accessories to keep my precious safe..

I've had an iPhone for the last year and a half and tweaked it as much as I possibly could. Always been somewhat interested in Android so figured I'd take a look. Really liked the look and feel of the Droid X and the Inspire 4G intrigued me as well, but when I heard about the Thunderbolt and read up on the specs I had to hold out for it. I am very impressed with the Sense UI which is one of the big reasons I'm going with the TB over the Bionic.

My wife gets SO PISSED when I get new gadgets. No idea why. She uses the excuse that it's because of the money, but after I wear her down she just doesn't like that I am 'never happy with anything for long'. Whatever. She's a photographer and started out with a Nikon D40x. Shortly after, upgraded to the Nikon D300S. Now she wants either the D700 or the D3. Course, she uses the excuse that HERS is an investment while mine doesn't make us any money.

(She's also a little pissed because she is still using the iPhone 3G. If any of you have used it for long, you'd understand why she is pissed. Slow as molasses. But she has an upgrade coming soon.)

So...I became eligible for an upgrade in August. I wanted something with a 4.3" screen, but didn't love the Droid X. I really liked the Evo 4G, but I get a corporate discount on Verizon and so far have been pretty good (I was one of the many taken over when Alltel was purchased by VZW). The Incredible is a great phone, but I figured there was something better...I was drooling over the rumored, then vanishing, and then re-rumored Mecha. In the mean time, the Thunderbolt was rumored. Being a storm spotter, a phone named the Thunderbolt just had to be fate. So I have long put up with my BlackBerry Storm 1. Hate this phone....wouldn't wish a BlackBerry on my worst enemies, and as an IT guy, have never and could never recommend one, but I digress. So long awaited some sweet android goodness, and plan on being at the front door of my local store at 9am when they open up.

I was planning on purchasing a Seido Innocase II for the TB, as well as one for my wifes dinc she got a couple weeks ago (she managed to destroy a Storm1 and a Curve -- well Storm 1, the curve got a milk bath by my 2-year old) before she moved to Android, and seems to love it (or is at least addicted to angry birds). And since I was having a hard time holding out, I did pick up a Nook Color and rooted it. Next step, froyo and then Honeycomb when it's matured a bit.
