My eighth grade brother-in-law would do just about anything for an MP3 player with a decent touchscreen and the ability to access the internet and download apps. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the resources to purchase a new (or even the previous generation) iPod, Galaxy Player, or Cowon D3.
I thought it would be a good idea to buy a gentlyish used previous generation Android device and give it to him for Christmas (not activated). Are there any devices out there new enough to run most of the latest and greatest apps without being new enough to break the bank?
I'm running a rooted Thunderbolt with CM7 installed, so I'd be willing to root the device and install a stable ROM if that changes the advice you have for me.
