Back in the day the iPhone and Motorola had pretty much undisputed reps as having best signal reception. My Moto razr maxx hd still has better reception in VZW network than my Note 3. Now of course Moto is Lenovo. I've even heard complaints from iphone users however my wife's 6+ has better reception than my Note 3. (not even close)

I wonder if a particular phone or brand today is reputed to be best at providing data even in weak signal areas? I understand that this may mean poor battery life and a hot phone since antenna is drawing more power to pull a weak signal.

No problem! Hopefully someone with knowledge of this can reply; as it would make sense that device companies would push out/market things like reception quality so potential buyers can get hooked on their products!

I can't speak to them in general, but I am impressed with the G4's reception. It's just as good as my old Moto Droid Bionic.

LG huh? Ever test vs iPhone on same isp? It's not that I think iPhone is great but they are ubiquitous so a good sample for comparison. Like my wife's iPhone 6+ kills my Note 3 with VZW. Her 4s had even better reception but only 3G.

I had never heard LG was great nor have I heard it isn't. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who has one.

I would not buy a Huawei (since not guaranteed by American Service Providers) so I guess I mean from the usual cast: Moto, LG, or Samsung.

Moto still is king. My year old Nexus 6 picks up a near full LTE signal, where a Note 5 and 6s + are barely 2 bars and often disappear into 3G. This is of course just an anecdotal thing, but i have reasonably seen the nexus 6 (moto phone) hold a signal, where others were dead

Checked just now with dad's moto x style and it's the same thing. Where the iPhone 6s+ is 2 bars, the moto was near full and considerably faster on a speedtest
