10x Zoom on the new oppo.
https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2019/1/16/18184870/oppo-10x-zoom-camera-phone-mwc-2019

Sounds like the actual zoom is only 3x with optics, though this is unclear

Latest iphone sensor:
https://www.dpreview.com/news/15645...own-reveals-new-sensor-with-more-focus-pixels

7.01 mm x 5.79 mm (40.6 mm2)
1.4 µm pixels (compared to 1.22 µm on last year's iPhone X)

Still looking for a camera with a great primary sensor, basic specs from 4 years ago still hold true:

2.2µm pixels (247% larger then Apple and Samsung 1.4µm pixels [2.2x2.2=4.84]/[1.4x1.4=1.96])
4096 x 3073 resolution
12.59 MP
9mm x 6.8mm (61.2mm^2 sensor)
OIS

Additional cameras:
One would have no color filter (much more light sensitive - a black and white image)
One sensor would have a 3x optical zoom lens - para-scope configuration (not sure how large of a sensor can be set perpendicular to the main camera body)
One would have Infrared capabilities (no IR filter - should dramatically improve low light sensitivity, and allow for other cool features)
One would have polarizing lens

Google has shown how much can be done with image processing and I would love to see them open this software to the entire Android ecosystem.

Samsung introduced a new sensor

108 MP
1/1.33 (0.75" or 9.6 x 7.2mm)
12032×9024 pixel resolution
0.8-micrometer (μm) pixel

for comparison
Nokia 808
41.3 megapixel 1/1.2 (0.83" or 10.67 × 8.00 mm)
7728x5368 pixels.
Pixel size is 1.4 µm

There is rumor of this sensor going to the S11.

Yup, and new rumor is Samsung has a 144mp sensor in the works. That is 33% larger and the sensor would finally be as big as the Nokia 808. with pixel binning of 12 pixels you get a 12mp image with great light sensitivity (pixels are essentially 12x larger than current Galaxy sensors!!).

Now Samsung needs to take note of Apple's new acquisition

The ToF sensor needs to be increased to be a full fledged sensor for an infra-red camera to improve low light performance

You seem to be quite the camera dude... What's your thoughts on the S20 Ultra 108 mp camera? Does this come closer to what your ideal camera would look like?

I wish some of their engineers would come out and talk about why they are choosing high pixel counts instead of having 16mb sensors with very large pixels. They are headed in the right direction with much larger sensors. I think they need more specialized sensors and better utilization of what they have. They already have low quality IR sensors, why not upgrade those and use for IR imaging and improving low light?
