New Android user - games/apps

Hey all. Just got an HTC Aria. It's my first smartphone and I have a quick question. I'm sure downloading apps from the Android Market uses some of my monthly data, but once it's downloaded does using the app use up more of my data?

it will if you have "background data enabled" turn it off and you should be fine. also if you have a smartphone...i would advise for a unlimited data plan...

Thanks. Unfortunately, the Aria is an AT&T exclusive and they don't offer unlimited data plans anymore. Only options are 200MB/mo. or 2G/mo.

Also, is the Google service you have to sign up for in order to d/l apps free?
