What did you update, the app or the device? Device updating can cause temporary and sometimes permanent incompatibility issues, app updates typically don't but can have the same effect. They typically update to be more compatible with more devices and not harm compatibility with current devices unless there's a bug. Check the change log for what was updated and contact the dev if you're unsure. There is typically a link in the description at the PS. Also check the reviews. If you're having an issue after an update so is someone else and the reviews will be the first indicator.
