Three devices that were released last year are not ready for the scrap heap just yet. These are the Samsung Galaxy S3 which was revealed in June, the Apple iPhone 5 which came out in September and the LG Nexus 4 which was proudly announced by Google in November. All devices are superb, but which is the best of the bunch?

The LG Nexus 4 has the 1.5 GHz quad core processor, the Apple iPhone 5 comes with the dual core, which was clocked at 1.2 GHz and internationally the Samsung Galaxy S4 runs on the quad cores, but in the US it has dual core processors. The Apple iPhone 5 is slower out of the three, but faster than the iPhone 4S. The LG Nexus 4 offers 2GB of RAM, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 has quad cores, but only 1GB of RAM. This means that the LG Nexus 4 comes out on top.

The LG Nexus 4 has Jelly Bean 4.2 and this is Android in the pure form. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has Jelly Bean 4.1 after being updated and it also comes with Touchwiz. The Apple iPhone 5 is the odd out with the latest version of iOS 6.1.3 and this is the most streamlined of the operating systems and also the easiest one to learn. The LG Nexus 4 will get updated quicker that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and so it could be a choice along with the iPhone 5.

For storage you can choose between 8 GB or 16 GB with the LG Nexus 4. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is available with 16 GB or 32 GB and you can boost it to another 64 GB thanks to the SD card. The Apple iPhone 5 is available in 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB, but doesn?t have support for SD card. This makes the Samsung Galaxy S3 stand out as the winner.

You get a 4.7 inch display with the LG Nexus 4. It is a True HD IPS display, offering 318ppi and resolution of 1280 x 768. The Apple iPhone 5 has a 4 inch IPS display and this is retina. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with the biggest display at 4.8 inches with 1280 x 720p resolution. While all of the screens are good, it is the IPS ones that offer the most realistic looks and which are better in sunlight. Super AMOLED can look too hyper-real. With the LG Nexus 4 having the larger IPS display, it wins.

With the LG Nexus 4 comes a battery of 2100mAh and it is possible to get around 15 hours use according to LG. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 both offer around 10 hours talk time. AnandTech did real-world tests however and they put the Apple iPhone 5 in the lead, the Samsung Galaxy S3 next and the LG Nexus 4 was in last place.

If you need NFC on your device then you will have to choose between the LG Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S3. For LTE it?s the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the Apple iPhone 5. Need both? You will have to get the Samsung Galaxy S3.

There is an 8 megapixels camera with all of the handsets. The LG Nexus records video at 1080p and has a front camera of 1.3 MP. The Samsung Galaxy S3 supports LED flash along with autofocus and offers a front camera of 1.9. The Apple iPhone 5 is known to have the best BSI sensor and it has a camera of 1.2 megapixels on the front. Photosphere comes with the LG Nexus 4, the Apple iPhone 5 camera is best in low light and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is better known for its ability of taking video and photos together. We put the Apple iPhone 5 and its BSI sensor in top place.

The Apple iPhone 5 is the winner when it comes to design, camera and the ease of use.

For us the winner has to be the Samsung Galaxy S3 thanks to large amounts of storage and SD card, the large screen, front camera and its connectivity options. These include Smart Share, micro HDMI, DLNA, MHL, NFC and LTE. The price of the handset is dropping thanks to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4, which means it is an even better buy.

iPhone 5 is crap, Never used a nexus device, and the S3 would be a great phone if it has the ability to be connected to the PC as a USB Device and not an MP3 player with the MTP bullcrap.

Re: iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3 vs Nexus 4: Dont Retire Them Yet

My Nexus 4 is strangely performing better then my friend's Nexus 5. Faster, more responsive to touch. Official Android 5.0.1 on both.
