Just updated my phone to Android 9 Pie and now the 12 hour format time no longer shows AM or PM.

Not sure as to the "why", but I would imagine it's probably considered redundant information. I'm pretty sure we can all tell the difference between 2:00 in the afternoon from 2:00 in the morning.

Regardless of the reason, it's a pretty poor decision to at least not make it optional (as far as I'm aware). For example, what if someone is inside all day or has an unusual sleep/wake cycle? And what about 6 or 7 o' clock, which may look the same in the morning and evening at times of the year?

Well okay. I mean, I don't have an ax to grind on this point. I just think that most reasonable people can tell the difference between 6:00 in the evening and 6:00 in the morning and Google probably asked what's the point of having that toggle.

Fixed that for you. I think that was a Samsung option, I'd have to check my Nexus 6P when I get home to see if it was on Oreo on that device. Considering the timing of the post, I'm assuming we're discussing a Samsung device, but I could be wrong...

    That's a good point. I didn't consider a specific OEM like that.

I guess if you live in Alaska you're f***ed. I agree that there should be a way to toggle it. Unless they're turning into Apple's model where everything is restricted with no reasoning behind it other then lazy coders

There's always the option of 24-hour time like much of the world uses. Once you've done it for a couple days it's not so bad...
