No ! It's almost six months old. It's strange that Google stock options doesn't show the precise details about 'backup' processes.
That is strange on couple them waiting on back up, the only time I seen that is when setting up new phone or flashed the firmware. You can try long press the Google drive app >info tap >clear data and cache then force close the app and see if it fixes this .
Try disabling screen lock. I have a G7 Power and if screen lock is on, it won't back up and the "back up now" button is greyed out. If I disable screen lock, the button becomes available and I can backup the phone.
I actually can't install my work apps on the phone because my work's security policies require me to use a screen lock. I really need Google to fix this bug.

No idea. I've seen a couple of reports about this problem but no real solution so far. The only workaround seems to be disabling the lock method temporarily. I wonder if it's related to other bug affecting different devices after the Pie update that locked phones because they couldn't recognise the right unlock password/pin/pattern.
I'll search a bit and post back if I find anything else.
