so, I've got three ebook apps on my phone and tablet.

barnes and noble's nook app.
amazon's kindle app.
google play books.

the question I have..is which of these three is considered the best, and why?

..I'm looking to ditch two of them, as having 3 apps is on the absurd and redundant side.

That may depend on where you tend to get your eBooks. If you primarily purchase books from one particular ecosystem, then stick with that one. If you like to borrow eBooks from your library via Overdrive, though, then stick with Kindle, since that's the one that links to Overdrive.

Ditch Barnes and Noble. Kindle plays kindle books ebooks and can't handle epub ebooks. Google Play handles epub ebooks. Depends on what type of ebooks you want to reach and where you get them from.

GOOGLE PLAY BOOKS
This is popular app which is the default in android phones. This app, as the name implies has been developed by Google The best thing about Google play is the that you can easily download books for free and make a quick purchase too.
