The article only seemed to focus on those specific apps. I think attacking mining services is the trend now.

Those are the only 2 they found. I wouldn't be so dismissive though. We're talking about apps with code that uses your phone as a bit coin miner. That affects your battery life, shortens your battery lifespan, uses your monthly data and uses your cpu power.

Just to clarify, these aren't bitcoin apps, they're apps that serve another purpose that mine bitcoins for the developer without your knowledge

I've heard of this and I pay for a security suite, lookout. The only thing I can think of doing actually. Has Google taken any action? I suppose writing to them to get on the ball would help or contacting a security company that makes security apps for android and asking them if they have a solution.
