Decent deal over at Woot for this refurb'd Lenovo Tab 4 8" -- only $89! Granted, it only costs $129 brand new, but I used that differential to spring for a 2 year SquareTrade warranty, thus protecting it for twice as long as a brand new one. I ordered this to replace my parents' aging Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, since I noticed that some apps were starting to lose compatibility (like the Southwest Airlines app).

I already have experience with this tablet, since I got one for my daughter a year ago. Surprisingly good for the price, with a nice bright screen (albeit only 1280x800), stereo front-facing speakers with better-than-average sound enhanced by Dolby Atmos, decent performance (my daughter can play Minecraft with few issues). It ships with Nougat, but got the Oreo update this past November. 2 GB of RAM is enough, but 16 GB of internal storage is not quite enough -- at least it has a microSD card, and the device does support Adoptable Storage. If you're looking for a cheap but decent tablet, ignore all of those no-name or off-brand craplets, and give this one a go! The deal is over on Feb 7, or until they run out of inventory.

Ok, that was the clincher. To get a bugfix/security update 2 years out on a non-flagship device is pretty impressive. I just ordered another one for myself, since my 2013 N7 is slowly but surely dying.:D

I've been using it pretty much every day. A bit slow for some activities, but totally fine for my games (mostly pinball), ebooks, and video consumption.

@tube517, just got another system update today! Security and bugfixes. Pretty impressive, considering this budget tablet is almost 2 years old. 95 MB update, brings the security update to March.

Nice. I got my wife the 10" lenovo 4 10 and it is not getting oreo and probably no other security updates.

Thanks, I will go check out the update and download on my tab 4 8

Oh, I thought it was only the Tab 4 Plus 10" that wasn't getting Oreo, not the standard Tab 4 10".

You know this was one of those A&T Giveaway Tab 4 10. I don't think it's the plus. I know the plus had 3 or 4 GB RAM and this one doesn't. It's only 2 GB RAM.

It's still on Nougat so I'm confused.

Look, now woot.com has the Tab 4 8 Plus (refurb) for $79! computers.woot.com/offers/lenovo-8-tab4-8-plus-16gb. Better processor (Snapdragon 625 instead of 425) and better screen (1920x1200). I couldn't resist -- just ordered it!

Quick update -- I've since learned from other forum posts that this particular model (TB-8704V, which is the Verizon 4G model) did not get updated past 7.1.1, unlike the regular Tab 4 8, which got 8.1. Presumably this is because of Verizon (boo!).

Another update -- DO NOT GET THE LENOVO TAB 4 8 PLUS being sold by Woot.com! I discovered after receiving it today that there's a well-described bug that causes wi-fi connection to be dropped frequently. There's a long support thread about it here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo...and/WiFi-issue-with-Tab-4-8-Plus/td-p/3986227 (wish I had seen that before I had ordered it!) No solutions offered by Lenovo. It sounds like it might be a glitch introduced by a system update which they never bothered to patch. Interestingly, this never happens on my Lenovo Tab 4 8 (the non-Plus version). I'm going to start the return process tonight.:-\
