I have H96 max+ 2018 4G x 64G running Android 8.1 purchased in Oct 2018 (non clock version) recently Utube app stopped working asked to be upgraded. Google play said the upgrade is not compatible with my version Android.....c ur friendly supplier for a solution. Went H96 web site and downloaded H96 Android 9. Hooray Utube works using LAN internet connection; but WiFi no longer works. The box sees both 2.4g & 5g signal however putting in the pswd the connect request times out. Conclusion is the transmit side of the WiFi is not working. The difference between my and the current model is there is a clock screen fitted. So definitely there is a hardware difference. The reason why Utube couldn't be upgraded is that app is part Android OS. There are 2 approaches either modify Android 8.1 or Android 9
1 transfer Utube app from Android 9 to Android 8.1
2 transfer WiFi driver from Android 8.1 to Android 9
The problem with the app is not with just Utube Netflix & Google play potentially have the same issue!
has anyone a solution

I moved this from the Pie forum to the Android TV forum, since this is likely more of a device issue rather than a general Pie issue.

Not really.

Apps are compiled in different ways for different devices and different versions of Android.

Android is modified in different ways for different devices.

And ... Uber isn't the type of app the developers of a TV box worry about. It's for watching TV, it's not for replacing a cellphone.

If you want to "transfer WiFi driver from Android 8.1 to Android 9", you're going to have to get the source for AOSP version 8 and extract the driver code, then get the source for AOSP for version 9 and replace it, then write the vendor portion (the code that makes AOSP work on a particular device), then compile it into the form the H96 needs for flashing (it could be a zip file, a tar file, a ... almost anything), get a flashing tool for the Rockchip SoC, and flash it. Not something every design engineer would undertake.

So my best "solution" is run apps like Kodi on the H96 and run Uber on your phone.

I think OP was talking about YouTube (they spelled it as Utube). I honestly don't know why it won't upgrade though. Android 8 and 9 both support modern YouTube as said Android versions are still pretty recent.

WiFi issue has been resolved. It appears there are 2 versions of the H96 max+. My assumption the difference is WiFi chip used in the current H96 max+ The 1st pie OS is a non "C" version. It too suffers from same problem cannot be upgraded here are some screen shots20191205_160742466.jpeg20191205_160846600.jpeg20191205_160944281.jpeg
