Love this question! Right now if we are talking a brand new device only i'm going to have to say the Moto G5 Plus (based on personal experience)! I have had such a good time using it. The 4GB model puts your right at $299. The 911 issue has been patched too.

Now, if you open yourself up to used options via Swappa you can expand your horizons, but you also potentially open yourself up to another persons problems.

Also hoping you meant 300$ out the door and not a device payment plan, because that changes the game quite a bit . I read your question as "I have $300 I want to spend at once on a device, what's my best choice!" With that enthusiasm too!
