Downloaded files not in Downloads

[Android Central Question]

I have accidentally downloaded files and then never see them again. They never go to My Files -> downloads. Also, why is there not a Delete option for so many files? I am running out of space and can't free any up!

Which phone?
Which version of android?
which carrier?

Which app is doing the downloads?

If you think you are using Chrome, you may be mistakenly using Google Search app. When Search does not have permissions to "storage", it writes the files to a hidden folder. Check the app permissions for Google Search.

Use Google Files and use the search function in GF to determine where the downloads went.

I had an issue downloading music from Amazon Music - could not find the them. Searched in Google Files and found the hidden mp3's
