Cannot use a certain ringtone for my emails, Huawei Y6.

I have recently got a huawei Y6 and i want to assign a "you have an e mail " message as its notification sound but all i can manage is a dull ring tone.I have downloaded the sound i want to my phone and its in my music file,but it will not attach to the email as i want it to,any help would be most wecome

Try to put it in ringtone files in your file manager so it can stick.

Welcome to Android Central! I would actually move that sound file to the /Notifications directory. Then go to Settings>Apps​, select the Email app, then Notifications, and see if you can change the notification tone there.

Move or copy, if you want to use it for both a ringtone and a notification tone. (Or create a symlink to it in Notifications, if the OP is familiar with Linux.)
