Welcome to Android Central! Change what storage type? Are you connecting the tablet to a computer?

If you're talking about an SD card, you can only use it as external storage (aka Portable Storage) -- Samsung doesn't let the user format it as internal storage. Is that what you mean?

AFAIK Samsung devices do not allow formatting SD cards as adoptable storage.

Internal storage is adoptable storage, which cannot be done on Samsung devices.

If you're running out of space, then the best option would be to move your files such as pictures, music, videos and documents to an SD card and also use a cloud service such as Samsung Cloud, Google Drive/ Google Photos, or OneDrive to back up.

On some older Samsung devices, you can get it to work using ADB commands: https://android.stackexchange.com/qu...amsung-devices

But I wouldn't recommend it. SD cards are by nature much less reliable than onboard memory, and since they're more prone to failure, it can crash your whole system if you make it part of the internal storage.
