Firstly - we don't make the phones.
Second - the market as seen by the manufacturers dictated these changes. Want thinner phones? The battery needs to be built in so the hard plastic shell on removable batteries can be taken away. Want water resistance? The phone needs to stay sealed for best performance.

I believe since the s6 onAren't we on the 4th year that Galaxy devices have had sealed batteries? At least on the flagship phones?

The one you had between battery and the cover ?nope, my note 3 was able to wireless charge because of a small battery attachment pad I added.

I'd also submit it's so that phones are easier to track. I'd hazard a guess that there has been governmental pressure put on manufacturers.
