What phone? What version of Android are you running? Is your wireless network hidden? At some point Google/Android introduced an option in the WiFi settings that allow it to connect to a network even if it's hidden. If it's hidden, you'll need to be sure to check that. Also, it seems on Pixel devices there's an option to randomize the Mac address of the phone when connecting to a new network, if this is enabled and your network is blocking connections for unknown MAC addresses.
