Huawei P20 filtering notifications?

[Android Central Question]

I have a Huawei P20 with the newest update (EMUI 10.0.0) and for the past few weeks I've been experiencing problems with some notification icons appearing only for a split second on the notification bar and then vanishing without giving you the chance to even see what they are. This also happens on locked screen, ie. you hear a buzz of, say, calendar notification but you unlock and see an empty bar. At first I thought this was some notification filtering mechanism but it's so random that I doubt it and it clears up even important notifications like those of banking apps or calendars... I couldn't find anything like this in the settings and wiping the cache did not help. Ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have any other devices that might also get these notifications? If so, it may be that the app thinks the notification was seen and dismissed on that other device.
