My Samsung Galaxy Note 8 died and in a way that still allowed me to use a recovery tool to retrieve most of the data from it. I want to copy the SMS database from that recovery into my new phone. Does anyone know the name and storage location so I can do so?

Welcome to Android Central! It's an SQL database in a protected system directory. The phone would have to be rooted in order to access it.
