Why would an app with "Qualcomm" and "Samsung" in its app name be suspicious for being malware?

Phones have a LOT of system apps preinstalled. I suggest not worrying about what each and every one does unless you want to drive yourself a bit batty. Or unless your phone is behaving erratically or suspiciously, in which case you should mention that first.

It was because I had a thing which was either downloading or updating called Google system update and panicked

Why do you say that a system update was downloading via the Play Store?

Keep in mind that there can be various kinds of updates automatically downloaded by the system -- these can be Play Services updates, or Google Play security updates (which are separate from system updates), among other things.

I don't think you have to disable the Play Store or Download Manager. If you disable Download Manager, you'll have trouble downloading anything at all.

As far as I know, they're still not sending out the full system updates that way. But it may have been some other system component that was being updated that way, as I previously mentioned.

OK so that would of been a legit download then. I did cancel it as I panicked. So the Google system update is definitely normal
