Will a broken fingerprint reader mess up an s9 going underwater

Found an s9 for sale has a broken fingerprint reader will that un do the ir rating . I spend a lot of time in wet places so that's a deal breaker if so.

Even if that specifically isn't voiding the IP rating, it could mean the phone was abused and I wouldn't trust it. If there is any physical damage, all bets are off.

Then again, I don't trust those ratings to begin with. If your phone is at a large risk of getting wet and you can't leave it behind, I would suggest keeping it in a bag you can seal air tight.

since the sensor is exposed, it could also mean anything it is connected to is exposed. I can understand getting a cheap, used phone for working in damp or wet enviroments but in this case, it would be a deal breaker to me. If you decide to go ahead and get it, I would cover it with duct tape.

I also agree with the previous post, it would be hard to break the covering of the fingerprint sensor without other possible, abusive damage.
