Can't set up phone notifications unfortunately ims stopped

Are you saying that when you try to adjust your Phone app's notification settings, the Phone app keeps closing with an error message that says, "Unfortunately, IMS has stopped"? What andriod version its on?
Sounds like you might have to factory reset.
