Why is my phone still searching when connected, and also saying I'm on data?

[Android Central Question]

It's been like this since day 1 with this phone and I've had it since June. I never could figure out why and kind of stayed on data as long as I could because being on the wifi made it laggier and I recently discovered why- the fact it was still searching so it disrupts the connection. And apparently, even if it's on the wifi, it's still trying to use the data. It's an LG Stylo 2 V. Should I ask about getting a replacemeng SIM card or anything? I've tried multiple methods already and nothing's fixed it.

Have you tried in safe mode for this? Maybe a factory reset is needed.
