Why is my system taking up so much storage?

[Android Central Question]

I recently got one of the new lg phones, and have been having some really bad storage problems with it. I have 32gb of storage but my system is taking up 17gbs of that it shows. So i got a SD card to hopefully add some storage onto my phone. But it seems to have done nothing. How do I fix this?

Adding an SD card does not expand the phone's ability to install more apps. It's only for storage of data files, like photos, music, and videos.
