Nokia 5.3 using 50GB for system files

[Android Central Question]

On my storage screen the phone claims to be using 50gb for system files and this is causing me to be running out of storage space and slowing my phone down. Any way to reduce this amount?

Welcome to Android Central! You can also try Files by Google, which can give you a breakdown of which apps are using the most storage.

Sorry for the late reply, this is the space usage. Rebooting freed up some space and I cleared out some caches but the system files have just swallowed the space I created.

That screenshot shows the SD card -- is Internal Storage also full? Do you have the SD card formatted as Internal Storage or Portable Storage?

I don't have an sd card, not sure why it shows up like that but it's my internal storage

If you use any messaging apps or social media apps (especially Telegram or kik), go to Settings>Apps, select one of those apps, then Storage, and see how much app data and cache are associated with each of those apps.

Should be able to long press the power button when it displays power off on the screen long press it until says safe mode
