My phone died on Sunday and is currently being repaired. In the meantime, I just put my sim card into an older phone and downloaded whatsapp, but when I opened it up, many of my contacts and previous conversations are not there. I know that I had a bunch of unread messages, and they're nowhere to be found on there. Will my missed messages (both those from before my phone died, as well as those I have received since) show up once I get my usual phone back?

Welcome to the forums. With WhatsApp it all depends on when you did your last backup.
