Whatsapp notification (sound + vibration)

[Android Central Question]

Good Day..

Yesterday my whatsapp notification stopped working... but not in the normal way... the whatsapp display icons comes up... but I don't get sound or vibration...
things I have tried already

1. I have reinstalled whatsapp
2. Checked all permissions and settings through the phone settings and all is correct
3. Checked all settings in whatsapp itself and all is correct.

I have the note 20.

It's not the same thing I have read on other posts. The notification doesn't only come through when I open whatsapp. The icon is there, it just doesn't notify me unless I'm literally looking at the phone.

Do you use DND? (Do Not Disturb)

Welcome to Android Central! When you say you checked all permissions and settings through the phone, do you mean you went to Settings>Apps, selected WhatsApp, then Notifications, and made sure the main tone is set correctly? Are you using a custom tone or one of the preinstalled ones?
