Android Central Question

I have a Samsung Galaxy A52 with Android 11, which has an in-display fingerprint sensor. When unlocking with my fingerprint, the area around the fingerprint flashes with light.

During the day, this is not a problem. However, at night this light is actually quite bright, and can nearly blind me. Sometimes my thumb doesn't completely cover the area, and the unexpected flash of light nearly wakes me up.

How can I disable the light effects when using an in-display fingerprint sensor?

Hi @mustang7757 thank you, I made an account (I'm posting this through said new account), but it didn't link the original question to my account.

And yes, I tried turning off "Show unlock transition effect" under "More biometrics settings" and it did not help, the lights are still present.

Welcome to AC!

Yeah didn't think it would , on the stock firmware I don't see another way to adjust that . You use smart lock which keeps the device unlocked on your body or location to avoid the fingerprint.

It looks like that phone uses an optical fingerprint sensor, which means it requires light to read it. No light, no reading, no unlock. Ultrasonic sensors don't require light, but that's the kind you find embedded in the power button.
