Help, password autofill in apps doesn't work - "contents can't be autofilled"

[Android Central Question]

First time I see something like this. Have just upgraded to a Galaxy Tab S7 plus. It had Android 12 out of the box.

Since Google smart lock doesn't work in most apps anyway, if I go into apps where logins worked perfectly on my phone - such as Discord - no login/password pops up and clicking on Autofill returns the error "contents can't be autofilled".

On websites in Chrome this works normally. This is only about apps.

What can I do?
