    Hello,

Is there an app, something to password protect a file? Not to hide it, it should remain in the same folder, still visible to everybody, but only who knows the password to be able to open it. This should apply to all kind of files, like txt docs, pictures, office docs (similar to Windows password protect in Office).

    Thank you,
    Liviu

With the file manager app mixplorer silver you can archive folders or files and add password protection. But this creates another folder. You can explore the folder and it shows the file names but the files are locked until providing password, but I'm not sure this is exactly what you're looking for. I think any method or app is going to require putting the files in a secured folder, which hides the file from other apps.

@mustang7757: I went create accunt, to login there but there is no option there.`And this should not be device depending. As I said, I need only to password pprotect a file. Like in Word for Windows, I can protect a doc. Then I can do whatever I want with it: move to another folder, even on another computer. As long as I have the password I can open it no matter where. Well, I need to have Word there too. So I need something similar here: an app to pasword protect a file, then to be able to copy it somewhere else, in another folder or even device, then to be able to open it if I have the app, and password of course.

I made you the owner of the original guest post to make it easier for you to find.

You'd need to find a 3rd party app to accomplish what you want to do, and I'm not sure if there are any good 3rd party apps that will fit the bill. Most file locker apps create a secure folder, and you have to move the files in question to that folder.

Before I said you have to archive the file or folder using mixplorer silver app, but you don't have to. You can encrypt any file or folder so you can accomplish what you are trying to do this way. Download the app and try it. Just highlight the file then go to menu and encrypt. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e?...token=ZtM0RzhI
