AC Question

Hello everyone.

This is a problem that has persisted for months. Netflix used to work fine on my phone then all of the sudden I got the black screen problem. Audio works fine, even the subs, yet the video is gone. I've rebotted, uninstalled and installed again and nothing.

Can anyone suggest anything ?

Model: GT-S5303B
Version: 4.0.4

Duos.

Have you tried clearing cache on Netflix app? Go to Settings>Apps>scroll down to all apps and click on Netflix. Click clear cache. See if that works.

Help... is there anyone else with this issue, ive done suggested above plus updating flash players turned off live wallpapers, reinstalled &rebooted but still no video ??? Anyone

I had the same prob. Simply turn off Colour Corrections.Colour Corrections ie (options to change the display mode based on different types of color blindness: Deuteranomaly (red-green), Protanaomaly (red-green) and Tritanomaly (blue-yellow) not compatible with Netflix.
Settings/Accessibility/Colour Corrections and turn off toggle..

Thanks for the fix(es), Irish JM and nickademus420! This was causing an issue on my wife's Cyanogenmod install. Turning off the built-in time-dependent color correction (day/night colors) fixed it immediately.

I had to go back to Netflix version netflix-4-9-5-build-10060.apk. My guess is that my old android 442 tablet can't decode the new Netflix video. If that's true then this old build may not work for long. Other articles talk about Netflix using new video formats, especially relating to their new download feature.

I don't think that's the problem, I'm having the same issue on my S8, every time I start a video the screen goes completely black and I can only hear the audio. I can barely exit to the homescreen.
I already have the color correction off and when I tried rebooting and clearing netflix cache, starting a new video completely blocked my phone and I had to hard reboot it O.o
Also, whenever I start the app and I go back to the homescreen everything inexplicably has to reload (all the icons, widgets and folders).
I'm afraid that Netflix android app has a major bug...

change the screen resolution on your galaxy S8 + from WQHD+ to FHD+ and I think this will fix your problem straight away SETTINGS - DISPLAY - SCREEN RESOLUTION change it and APPLY

I have had this problem since November 2017
seems netflix has a bug in their software and it is still not fixed
I phoned and this is what they told me.
Anyone else heard this??

None of the above solutions worked for me.

What did work, however, was disabling Developer Options.

It seems like Netflix is trying to head off any piracy that could come from having that option enabled.

Hello. I have a samsung galaxy s8 and noone of the above worked for me. Most of them I couldnt find on my device. I cant find color correction, Live Display or Aspect Ratio. My screen was already in FHD+. I tried older versions of Netflix , rebooting my phone and turning of Dev options but noone of them worked. If anyone knows how to propperly fix this please reply.

I think this is a HDCP (encryption for digital rights management used by Netflix) problem on your phone. You are getting video (by virtue of subtitles, rating banner and video controls) and sound, but not video content (the actual movie). You are probably able to mirror Youtube videos without problem, so this proves the phone has capability to mirror video - IF IT ISN'T ENCRYPTED.

Ways out of this:
Try streaming from another phone/device.
Buy a splitter which removes the HDCP (plenty of videos on line describing these things)

First Fix for Netflix Video Freeze Issue

Your issue is Netflix Video freezes and or is out of sync: The first standard fix troubleshooting possibility for netflix freezing video is in Windows, run disk cleaner and keep temporary garbage files cleaned off machine regularly. It fixed this issue for me without having to do any of the fixes on the Netflix troubleshoot issue page.

Well Dear All I am facing the same issue not only for Netflix but from others also.. MHL and Mira cast or screen mirroring and screencast protocols are a big issue now a days for the end users including the fear of piracy of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Kodi Etc Etc and this is only continues while we are using non compatible devices although each brand is not disclosing the all things regarding compatibilities I hope this will be resolved soon for older versions which people using since last long and it is not easier things to upgrade from older ones... Hoping for the best... All the best
