Verizon Phone with balance

I bought a Samsung Note 2 form a guy and when I went to activate it I found out there was a balance on it. It was not under contract with Version anymore but there was a balance on it from the old owner. Is there anyway I can use this phone?

There's no way to use it. I'd suggest giving it back to the seller for refund.
