Andriod Wifi Calls

[AC Question]

Hey guys,
I am getting an Android phone soon( switching from ipod :} )
Just wanted to know if i could call people through WiFi without getting a different number, sort of like face-time audio on apple devices.
Additionally, is there a texting through wifi without losing my original number?

There are Voice over IP apps in Play. You are required to create an account, but that is about it. As for SMS messages, I am not sure.

If you have tmobile, you can use wifi calling on Android and keep the original number.

If you have Verizon, you can use the Verizon messages app to send messages when on wifi only and on any device, even if it isn't your phone . Keep in mind that this would count towards your texting limit, if you don't have unlimited
