YOWCH.......my SD card is all of the sudden BLANK!!!

Okay, I've been having an okay time with my Galaxy S4......until today. My phone rang and it wasn't the ringtone I set. When I went to reset it I found my music gone.....maybe 50 songs. Then I looked at my photo gallery, and the images were gone.
Sooooooooo, my SD card is blank, and I can't seem to figure out how to recover the files. I've looked at lots of online instructions and Youtube videos, and I fail to understand. Help??

Sorry for the delay. Does the phone even recognize the SD card any more? Do you see it listed in Settings>Storage? If so, Unmount it, then remove the card and insert it into your computer using a fullsize SD adapter, and see if the computer can find those files. If so, back them up immediately. The card may be corrupted, so you'll probably want to reformat it.

This is unfortunately a relatively common problem mentioned on these forums. Samsung devices don't seem to play very well with SD cards.
