Samsung Fascinate sending duplicate text messages

AC Question

A text message I composed has been received by the recipient over 100 times in less than a couple of minutes. I also get a message that it is "Currently unable to send your message.....". That message pops up frequently on the screen. My service is Selectel using Verizon networks. I've powered down the phone, and Selectel has reset my messaging, but I that tell-tale message is still appearing, so I think nothing has changed. What should I do?
