Can't find photos from best photo burst mode on my S4

Yesterday, I took photos using best photo mode. Today I wanted to go back in and pick the ones to keep. The problem is that my S4 seems to have self-selected one photo from each burst to keep and the rest have simply vanished. Is there any way to retrieve the missing photos?

Unfortunately, you can't

When you take pictures using "Best Photo" mode, after the camera takes the 8 burst images, you are then asked to select the best ones to save. If you just clicked the SAVE button after shooting, then only the default image, the last one, is saved. Unless you specifically select any of the other pictures, these are discarded.
