Big Buttons App on HTC One : Locked out of phone as PIN no longer works :(

Anyone else have experience of this - I'm faced with doing a factory reset now.....since installing Big Buttons on my phone my screen lock code no longer works (4 numeric characters).....I get "the PIN you entered is incorrect" message. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix for it that doesn't involve a factory reset?

That probably is the only way to do it, since you can't unlock the device to uninstall the app.
