Bought a new phone 3 weeks ago. Dropped it on Sunday for the first time. Volume button is dented so badly that it's actually stuck, and can no longer be moved down. Looks like the phone was in a fender bender. Called HTC 4 times. My options, hold my credit card for $599 which I don't have, and pay for shipping so I can get a loaner phone and pay for the repairs to the phone. Or, be without my phone for 4 days, pay for shipping, and pay for repairs. This should be under warranty, and dropping something from a table to a floor should not damage the cheap aluminum to this extent. It's not like it hurled it from space. I dropped my Motorola droid zillions of times and it never dented. Thoughts? Options other than a smear campaign on HTC.

Drops are never covered under warranty. No matter what phone you buy.. Any brand... They don't cover something under warranty when you dropped and damaged the phone. Warranties are for malfunctions.... They sold the device.. Working... And in perfect condition to you.. You are the one who broke it.

That's like buying a car and wrecking it and the dealer is supposed to cover it?..

If you bought insurance, then it should be covered. But the warranty doesn't cover physical damage. Of note, HTC advantage does cover a broken screen within the first 6 months, Samsung and apple doesn't. So they seem to be better in that regard.

In any event, it is wise to read and understand the warranty before buying any product. If you don't agree then don't buy.

Free Jak, I'm with you there, htcs are a piece of junk, which other phone has a camera that gives you a pink tint. And yet their users still accept the camera saying they don't use it anyway. The funny thing is htc did a free repair for the pink camera thing but most of their apologists didn't even bother to call and complain so they didn't realise they could got a free fix.

Their poor build quality is manifesting by way of falling market share. Shame on you HTC.
