Top of App Bars Won't Respond??

[AC Question]

I just bought the HTC One M8 brand new and have been playing around with it for a while, but I have noticed something rather strange..
In any app that I am using whether it is Facebook or my text messaging, Netflix or internet browsing, the top margin on all of these apps wont work!!! I turned the phone to the landscape orientation and tried all of them again thinking I had a faulty screen, but alas they wont work that way either! I don't know if this is a software issue or just an Android newbie making some obscure classic mistake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to Android Central! Are you saying there's no touch sensitivity along the top of the screen? How much of the screen doesn't respond to touch?
