Galaxy Trend plus volume is very soft and the earphones don't work.

Hi,
I have just bought a Galaxy Trend plus and the volume, while okay for hearing next to my ear has very low volume for hands free use and for playing music. Also, the earphone does not work on the phone but will work on my computer. Is there a setting I am missing I am thinking of returning it as defective tomorrow. Any help appreciated.

Probably defective. But make sure you pushed the headphone plug all the way in--you should hear or feel it click into place.
